Texas Rehabilitation Hospital: Advancing PM&R Integration into Systems-Based Practices

In this interprofessional educational activity intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, we will explore the unique role of PM&R services in improving patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency throughout the continuum of care. Using introductory didactic followed by a group case study analysis, participants will share and gain unified perspectives on how appropriate use of PM&R services can address gaps in system-based practices.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, case managers, social workers, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Articulate the pivotal role of PM&R services in improving patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
  • Identify key barriers to the effective integration of PM&R services within current system-based practices.
  • Develop strategies to integrate PM&R services effectively into interdisciplinary patient care plans, as demonstrated through case studies and group discussions.
