DFW Hospital Council Foundation: 4th Annual Sepsis Conference
Sepsis is a life-threatening emergency that happens when your body's response to an infection damages vital organs and often causes death if not treated early. Sepsis is the number 1 cost of hospitalizations in the US. Costs for acute sepsis hospitalizations and skilled nursing are estimated to be $62 billion annually. Approximately 30% of patients diagnosed with severed sepsis do not survive. Up to 50% of survivors suffer from post-sepsis syndrome. Early detections and treatment is essential for survival and limiting disability for survivors. CMS Regulations require 100% compliance with the SEP 1 core bundle that is not being achieved by most hospitals.
This conference aims to educate providers about Sepsis so that they too can educate patients and decrease the number of Septic patients going into Septic Shock and see Mortality rates decrease.
