HSCCP: 2024-26 Prescribing Wellness: Prioritizing Pharmacy Learners' Well-being
Pharmacy student burnout is a pressing issue that affects the well-being and performance of aspiring pharmacists. Research consistently shows that student well-being is closely linked to academic performance. Burnout can lead to decreased motivation, difficulty concentrating, and impaired cognitive function, all of which can negatively impact a student's ability to excel in their coursework and rotations. Moreover, burnout can also compromise a student's ability to provide safe and effective patient care. Errors in medication dispensing or counseling can occur when students are physically and emotionally exhausted, posing serious risks to patients.
This activity will outline the importance of student well-being and its impact on performance, as well as practical strategies to implement on rotations. Preceptors will learn strategies that they can integrate into their rotations and experiences.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for pharmacist preceptors.
