Herisa Stanislaus, MPH is a public health leader, creative strategist, and internationally recognized spoken word artist who uses storytelling as a tool for healing, equity, and systems change. With over a decade of experience in public health and community engagement, she specializes in advancing health equity, improving health literacy, and designing programs that center culturally responsive communication.
Herisa currently serves as Senior Program Manager of Patient & Family Education and Executive Communication at Boston Children's Hospital, where she leads strategic initiatives to enhance health literacy, strengthen patient engagement, and translate complex health information into accessible, patient-centered experiences. Her work bridges clinical expertise and community voice, ensuring that communication systems are inclusive, equitable, and effective.
Herisa has led and supported initiatives across the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean, bringing a global lens to community health and patient engagement. As an Albert Schweitzer Fellow, she developed and delivered health education programs that integrated creativity, empowering communities through both knowledge and creative expression.
Blending her expertise in public health with the transformative power of poetry, Herisa creates innovative approaches to wellness that make complex health information more accessible, human-centered, and impactful. Through keynotes, workshops, and performances, Herisa helps organizations reimagine health literacy as not just the ability to understand information, but the ability to feel seen, heard, and empowered to act.
