May Bressler, PT, DPT, Ph.D., PCS, is the Program Manager for Patient Education at Children's Health in Dallas, where she leads systemwide efforts to strengthen the clarity, accessibility, and usefulness of patient-facing educational materials. With 15 years of experience as a pediatric physical therapist and 6 years as a clinical educator, she brings a deep understanding of how health literacy influences patient comprehension, engagement, and care experiences.
In her current role, Dr. Bressler directs an interprofessional Health Education and Literacy Committee that includes clinicians, educators, medical librarians, translators, IT specialists, and allied health professionals. She oversees the development and review of patient education resources, facilitates collaboration among subject matter experts, and guides authors in applying plain language and health literacy principles. Under her leadership, the program has implemented step-by-step author guidelines, streamlined workflows, and introduced new technologies—including AI-supported editing tools and workflow management software—to improve efficiency and strengthen the quality of submitted materials.
Dr. Bressler also designs and delivers enterprise-wide staff training to support clear communication and the creation of patient materials that are understandable and actionable for families.
