Desiree Phillips, MS, MCHES

Desiree Gonzales Phillips is a Senior Health Education Specialist in the Patient Education department at UT MD Anderson, where she has dedicated over 23 years to advancing patient-centered education and outreach. In recognition of her exceptional contributions, she was honored as a Distinguished Educator by MD Anderson’s Academy of Health Science Education in 2019.
Desiree holds a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Tarleton State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She has been a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) since 2002 and earned her Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) credential in 2011.
Her expertise spans public health, health literacy, cancer education, community awareness, Latino health initiatives, and nonprofit leadership. Before joining MD Anderson, she spent six and a half years with the American Cancer Society in Houston, where she cultivated her passion for health advocacy and community engagement.
