Connie Geerhart, LCSW-S (licensed clinical social worker-supervisor
Connie received her undergraduate degree in English and Secondary Education from McDaniel College in 1991. After several years of teaching environmental education, she returned to graduate school and earned her MSSW from the University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work. She spent 25 years working as a Victim Services counselor within law enforcement settings, providing crisis and short-term interventions to survivors of various crime and trauma events. During this time she created curriculum and trained police officers, police cadets, nurses, county and district attorneys, advocates, and social work and counseling interns. She served as a PRN ER social worker for a trauma hospital in Austin. Connie has been a co-chair of the Austin Travis County Family Violence Task Force and has also served as a mentor of the FBI Victim Services training program.
Connie retired from the Austin Police Department Wellness Division in February of 2025 and currently serves as a temp Victim Services Lead Counselor on a PRN basis with the APD Crisis Team. She also provides individual therapy to adults in her small private practice in Austin, Texas. She began training as a Forensic Teaching Associate in March of 2025 and is thrilled to be part of a kind and enthusiastic team that supports nurses learning to be trauma-informed, client centered sexual assault nurse examiners.
When not working, Connie can be found at the dog park with her two dogs and husband, volunteering with Texas Performing Arts as an usher for all those Broadway shows, or hanging out with her Little Sister, who is headed to Baylor in the fall (Go Bears!) She loves a good book and is not ashamed of her ongoing addiction to reality shows and period dramas (Gilded Age, the Buccaneers, Bridgerton?)
