Sonia Sims is the Northeast Division Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Manager for Texas Health Resources.  She has been in the managerial role for over five years. Sonia has over 19 years of nursing experience. She has been certified as a SANE nurse since 2016. She is currently certified by the State of Texas Office of Attorney General.  Her certification focus are adult/adolescent and pediatrics. Therefore, she can provide care across the lifespan.  She also holds the international/national credential for adult/adolescent SANE nursing (SANE-A®). Sonia's territories include Texas Health Hospitals located in Dallas, Denton, and Kaufman. She oversees and coordinates 24/7 coverage for her assigned territories. 

Sonia also works with Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing as a Forensic Nurse Coach.  In this role, Sonia assists nurses seeking to become forensic nurses with skills check off and improving their trauma informed language.

She is the facilitator of the Dallas County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and an active member of Denton County SART and Kaufman County SART. The main goal for Sonia is to ensure all survivors are informed of their options and to restore courage into their decision-making process.
