Waridibo Allison, MD, PhD, FACP, CPE, FIDSA
Waridibo "Wari" Allison, MD, PhD, FACP, CPE, FIDSA, is a physician-scientist who currently serves as Vice President of Health Policy and founding Director of the Center for Health Policy within the Division of Research and Innovation at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (HSC). Dr. Allison has a nationally-renown record of tangible and significant impact to communities by addressing health disparities in innovative ways and through focused advocacy efforts. Dr. Allison serves as Principal Investigator and Program Director of several multimillion-dollar U.S. Federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funded projects. Dr. Allison believes health care is a human right and the focus of her work is on improving access to health care for underserved, marginalized populations by combating disease-specific, racial, cultural, gender-based, geographical, and economical barriers to health care access from the individual to the health systems level. This includes telementoring and work force development. Her work has received consistent federal funding for several years. A healthy community is characterized not only by the absence of illness but by attributes that promote well-being and enable a high quality of life. Dr. Allison embodies the understanding that in order for clinicians to be confident in managing infectious disease conditions, providers must be equipped with the appropriate tools that they need for task-shifting and skill acquisition. Dr. Allison's projects center around bolstering clinician knowledge while also mitigating pervasive and systemic health disparities and inequities. Dr. Allison leverages research, education, and community in the fight to inequities within the community.
