Bekah Sumsion, Bachelors of Arts in Music Education Choral Emphasis - Brigham Young University
Bekah Sumsion has been serving as the Student Success Coordinator in the Office of Medical Student Success at The University of North Texas Health Science Center for the past eight months. She trains a leadership intercollegiate council (ICC) of 24 medical students and serves as the event and activities coordinator for her office. Passionate about connecting people and creating a sense of community, in her short time at HSC Bekah has been involved in planning and coordinating over 50 events for students and community members. She has shared her musical talents by starting UNTHSC’s first-ever choir on campus, and is developing a brand-new servant-leadership curriculum for the ICC.
Inspired by her work with refugees, prior to joining UNTHSC, Bekah taught English as a second language at the world-renowned Missionary Training Center. She also led a private music studio where she taught voice, piano and guitar. Bekah has served as a choir director for several ensembles, including most recently as the assistant director at Provo High School, and the Regional HealthCare Affiliates Director at the University of Utah. Bekah received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a Choral Emphasis from Brigham Young University. In her spare time, Bekah enjoys working with youth, hiking, climbing and enjoying nature with her husband Jarom.
