Overview
Traditional patient safety training often fails because it doesn't stick. This workshop introduces a storytelling-based educational model that transforms complex safety protocols into memorable narratives and real-world scenarios. Participants learn how to design training that engages emotionally, not just intellectually—using case studies, role-play, and peer storytelling to build muscle memory around critical safety practices. You'll leave with a framework for creating educational experiences that healthcare teams actually remember and apply when it matters most, turning compliance into competence.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physician associates, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, certified public health professionals, social workers, physical therapists licensed in Texas, and community health workers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity leaners should be able to:
1. Analyze three case studies where AI either enhanced or compromised patient safety, identifying decision points where human intervention was critical versus where technology should be trusted.
2. Apply a decision-making framework to evaluate when AI recommendations should be questioned, overridden, or escalated based on clinical context and system limitations.
3. Create educational protocols that prepare teams to recognize AI failure patterns, maintain clinical judgment, and document technology-related safety concerns effectively.

In support of improving patient care, The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing Education for the healthcare team.

Statements of participation will indicate hours and CEUs based on participation and will be issued online at the conclusion of the activity. Successful completion includes completing the activity, its accompanying evaluation and/or posttest (score 70% or higher) and requesting credit online at the conclusion of the activity.
