ICARE - Enhanced Barrier Precautions for Long-Term Care Ombudsmen

This course provides an overview of Enhanced Barrier Precautions (EBPs). This includes why EBPs are required in nursing homes and how to successfully implement EBPs to protect residents.

This course takes approximately 25 minutes to complete.

Target Audience

This course is recommended for nursing home care providers, leadership, and staff.

Learning Objectives

When you complete this module, you will be able to:

  • Describe EBPs and how they differ from other precautions commonly used in nursing homes.
  • Discuss why EBPs are needed to provide quality care for nursing home residents.
  • Explain when and how to apply EBPs in resident care.
  • Describe core actions for successfully implementing EBPs in your nursing home community.
