CWG: 2024 Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
This activity was designed to provide an overview and foundational knowledge of the therapeutic principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for group therapists.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for social workers, LPCs, and LMFTs.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:
1. Identify core principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
2. Apply ACT principles with clients; including cognitive defusion, acceptance, present-moment awareness, self-as-context, values clarification, and committed action.
3. Develop skills in ACT Techniques to implement specific techniques in therapeutic settings.
4. Describe integrating ACT principles into clinical practice by developing their ability to conceptualize cases through an ACT framework.
