16th Annual JPS Trauma Symposium

The JPS Annual Trauma Symposium is a one-day continuing education event designed to advance knowledge and practice in trauma and critical care. The symposium provides a forum for dissemination of current evidence, emerging innovations, and expert perspectives through presentations and interactive discussion. Educational content will address diverse aspects of trauma care, including: • Stabilization strategies in rural trauma practice • Application of trauma-informed care in special populations • Integration of artificial intelligence in clinical decision-making • Advances in biomarkers and their role in the management of traumatic brain injury (TBI) The overarching goal of the symposium is to highlight best practice standards and evidence-based strategies that contribute to optimal patient outcomes across the trauma care continuum.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers and any healthcare provider treating trauma patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity leaners should be able to:

  • Describe current approaches to trauma stabilization in pre-hospital settings;
  • Apply principles of trauma-informed care when managing patients from special populations;
  • Evaluate opportunities for the integration of artificial intelligence into trauma and critical care practice and injury prevention;
  • Discuss recent advances in forensic nursing, human trafficking, and survivorship;
  • Incorporate evidence-based strategies to improve patient outcomes in trauma care;
  • Delineate strategies to address comprehensive needs in patients experiencing violence;
  • Optimize care and outcomes in patients undergoing Direct Peritoneal Resuscitation (DPR);
  • Facilitate precision communication and performance with multidisciplinary teams; and
  • Analyze advancements in emergency general surgery
