Ms. Harty is employed at the University of North Texas Health Science Center as Assistant Professor in the Center for Geriatrics/Institute of Healthy Aging. She currently holds national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Harty obtained her Master’s of Science degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1997. She has been a registered nurse for 43 years and has experience in long-term care, acute care and ambulatory care. She is also a Clinical Research Coordinator and has been lead coordinator for studies involving aging, including Alzheimer’s, osteoarthritis, epilepsy and diabetes. She has lectured on a variety of gerontological issues to include nursing assessment of the elderly, fall prevention, medication review and reconciliation, Dementia, sexuality in the elderly, and safety precautions for the elderly.
