Katherine Donowitz, MD

Kate Donowitz is a board certified pediatrician and pediatric hospitalist. She completed both medical school and her general pediatrics residency training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She worked as a community hospitalist for one year before completing fellowship training in pediatric hospital medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. From 2022-2023 she joined the faculty at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in Pediatric Hospital medicine where she also served as associate program director for the pediatric residency program and was a member of the pediatrics department Council for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity.
In August of 2023, she returned to UVA as an assistant professor to continue working in pediatric hospital medicine and to help further develop a Pediatric Integrative Medicine Program. She is currently completing a fellowship in Integrative Medicine through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. Her academic interests include pediatric integrative medicine, global health education, anti-racism and equity in medical education, social determinants of health, and physician wellness. She is committed to a collaborative, person-first approach in patient care as well as in her work with learners.
