Margaret Whitley, PhD, MPH

Margaret D. Whitley is an associate policy researcher at RAND. Her research focuses on occupational health, complementary and integrative health (CIH), and maternal and child health. Her recent work has examined critical issues facing the complementary and integrative healthcare workforce, including working conditions and diversity within these professions. Margaret also works on a National Institutes of Health-funded center to strengthen research in complementary and integrative health, and she has studied and published on topics ranging from employment among military veterans to faith-based approaches to health promotion. Her dissertation work at UC Irvine explored racial and ethnic disparities in breastfeeding and their connection to mothers’ employment; she continues to collaborate with other researchers to advance the scientific understanding of the ways that parents’ jobs can shape the health of the entire family.
