Andrew Diederich, MD
Andrew Diederich, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in mood disorders and suicide prevention.
Dr. Diederich earned his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he also completed a residency in general psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2010.
Dr. Diederich is a Diplomate with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, in both Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Among his many roles, Dr. Diederich is the medical director for hospital-based psychiatric services at Childrens Health: Childrens Medical Center Dallas. He has worked as an inpatient psychiatrist on a medically-complicated inpatient unit and as a consultation psychiatrist within the medical hospital.
He has participated in the State Hospital Child and Adolescent Services Workgroup for Texas HHS/State Hospital System and continues to work with the state on the development of the Texas Behavioral Health Center at UT Southwestern.
Additionally, he is the President-Elect for the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the state regional organization for the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
He has contributed to the book Depression, delivered numerous invited lectures, and published several academic articles in topics including suicide, self-injury, and restraint use in pediatric hospitals.
