Dr. Kate Taylor is a certified family nurse practitioner with over 25 years of experience in healthcare and previously served as an Army Nurse Corps officer. Her nursing background includes roles in nursing as a hospitalist and outpatient care geriatric primary care provider. Currently, she holds the position of assistant dean of clinical and outreach affairs for the College of Nursing as assistant professor, along with the role of an adjunct faculty member for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, both within the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Taylor is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as the secretary of the American Association of College of Nursing's Practice Leadership Network and as a legislative ambassador for the Texas Nurse Practitioner Association. She also serves on the education committee for the Fort Worth Region Nurse Practitioners as well as a board member for Dementia Friendly Fort Worth.

Dr. Taylor teaches an array of interprofessional learners within the university, locally, nationally, and internationally. She works extensively with the Center for Older Adults House Calls program and has a focus on advance care planning. She also has the Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential demonstrating proficiency in the core standard of patient safety. Dr. Taylor is a distinguished fellow of the National Academies of Practice, signifying outstanding or extraordinary contributions to interprofessional healthcare. Lastly, she recently completed the Graduate Certificate in Academic Medicine fellowship, becoming the first nurse graduate of the program.
