Amy Ramirez, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Amy Ramirez, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC is a Registered Nurse of 23 years with half of those as a Nurse Practitioner. Most of her career’s work has been in women’s health and caring for expecting mothers and their babies. In 2013, she founded Health Education, Resources & Services (HERS), LLC as another avenue to help others. Through her company, Amy had the opportunity to hold contract positions for several Ob-Gyns and family practice physicians in the Rio Grande Valley, and to operate and manage a business, including building teams to work toward a common goal.
When the pandemic hit, Amy felt compelled to more directly help her local community, which is 85% Latino/a. This quickly led to her voluntarily leading Operation COVID Shield, a group of over 250 healthcare volunteers alongside the Hidalgo County Service Agency and the county's Health Authority. Their initial project was surveying the social & medical needs of those needing COVID-19 testing, while also educating those waiting in line re: isolation, prevention of spread, especially in multi-generational households that are so common in the highly Latino population. This work led her to collaborate with the Texas CEAL consortium, led by UNTHSC via UT-RGV. She began the 3 year project through the UTRGV School of Social Work & School of Medicine, initially in a co-Project Coordinator role and now as a Consultant as a local healthcare connector and researcher through HERS, LLC with the statewide consortium.
In 2022, she began working full-time for DHR Health in a clinician role in Gynecologic Oncology. At beginning of this year, she transitioned to a more research-focused role as a sub-investigator at the DHR Health Institute of Research & Development, while in a consultant role, also reviewing and writing professional research articles.
