CHW: Asthma Care for School Age Children
Asthma is a chronic disease that has negative effects on the lungs. Chronic means ongoing and lasting a long time. Asthma causes breathing difficulty due to airway inflammation, airway narrowing, and extra mucus production. Although asthma is very common, it is often not well controlled. This can be from a number of reasons such as lack of education about how to control asthma symptoms or lack of access to the resources needed to control asthma symptoms. Research shows that if asthma symptoms are well controlled, a child with asthma may lead a normal life.
