Jiaqi Yu, Doctor of Philosophy
With over eight years of experience in instructional design and online learning, I am a senior instructional designer at UNT Health Science Center, where I lead and manage the design and development of high-quality and engaging online courses and programs. I have a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology and Human-Computer Interaction from Iowa State University, which enables me to apply research-based principles and practices to create effective and accessible learning solutions for diverse learners and contexts.
My research is uniquely positioned at the intersection of online learning, instructional design, peer mentoring, and communities of practice (CoPs). My work significantly emphasizes Learning Experience (LX) research and design, underpinned by the theoretical perspective of CoPs. I am passionate about supporting and empowering faculty and staff in their teaching and professional development. I facilitate in-person and online workshops and sessions on various topics related to online course design, teaching strategies, and educational technology tools. I also collaborate with faculty to identify opportunities and challenges for enhancing their courses, learning outcomes, and assessments. Additionally, I am an advocate for the integration of project management techniques into instructional design processes, as I believe they help streamline workflows, improve communication, and ensure quality and consistency.
