Stuart Pickell, MD, MDiv
Stuart Pickell is a “Med-Peds” physician in Fort Worth, TX. Originally from Virginia, he holds degrees from William & Mary, Princeton Theological Seminary and UT Southwestern Medical School and has professional experience in both parish ministry and as a primary care physician. Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics he completed his residency training at the University of Mississippi and has been practicing in Fort Worth for over 20 years.
Dr. Pickell has held leadership and executive level positions in healthcare organizations ranging from a health information technology startup company to a CMS pioneer ACO. His engagement in the ACO led to his interest in advance care planning and ultimately led him to co-found Texas Talks, a statewide organization that seeks to improve advance care planning processes for the seriously ill.
In addition to his primary care practice, Dr. Pickell is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the TCU School of Medicine where he is the Ethics Theme Lead. He is a past President of the Tarrant County Medical Society, serves as a Vice Councilor on the Texas Medical Association’s Board of Councilors, and on the TMA Foundation board. He is a member of several local ethics committees, and the Medical Director of Project Access, a volunteer organization that helps underserved populations access specialty care. He enjoys time with family, traveling, and playing the piano and guitar.
