A practice gap is the difference between what you currently know or can do and what you need to learn in order to teach effectively. When requesting CE credit for learning from teaching, briefly describe:
1. The gap – what knowledge/skill you lacked.
2. The learning – how you closed the gap.
3. The result – how it improved your teaching.
Example:
“I needed to teach residents about updated diabetes guidelines but was unfamiliar with the 2023 changes. I reviewed the new standards and updated my teaching materials. As a result, I was able to provide residents with current, evidence-based recommendations.”
