Age-Friendly Healthcare for Older Incarcerated Individuals, Center for Older Adults 2025-2027

This training module is designed to equip healthcare professionals, correctional staff, and other key stakeholders with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to address the unique and often overlooked needs of incarcerated older adult patients. It underscores the need for compassionate, evidence-based care that respects the dignity and supports the health of incarcerated older adults.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and social workers.

Learning Objectives

When you complete this module, you will be able to:

  • Discuss the significant challenges of aging in the correctional setting.
  • Recognize the challenges of age-friendly correctional healthcare.
  • Determine the needs of the older incarcerated individual.
  • Develop strategies to promote well-being in older incarcerated persons.
