Overview
Literature indicates that cancer outcomes are better when patients are managed according to the principles of multidisciplinary team evaluation. This process is associated with improved clinical decision making, clinical outcomes, and patient experience.
Medical City Fort Worth general cancer conference occurs every other week and includes a representative from surgery, pathology, radiation, oncology, and medical oncology. Additional physicians or non-physicians’ specialists recommended for attendance are genetic professionals, clinical research professionals, palliative care providers, psychosocial providers, rehabilitation providers, and supportive services.
Series Objectives
Upon completion of this activity leaners should be able to:
- Describe accurate staging and adequate pre-treatment evaluation of the respective disease
- Define treatment and management options and formulate a treatment plan for the patient in question
- Discuss appropriate follow-up procedures
- Recognize common histologic features associated with the site reviewed
- Assess available clinical trails
