Alina Kiljanski, MJ, BSN, RN, CPHRM, CPPS
Alina Kiljanski is the Director of Clinical Risk and Accreditation at JPS Health.
- Alina was born in Queens, New York but grew up in the burbs of Philadelphia. She has her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Immaculata University, and her Masters from Widener University Delaware Law School. In addition to being a Nurse Paralegal, she is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management.
- During her almost 30 years in healthcare, Alina has served in many roles. She started in Food and Nutrition as a Champagne Waitress for the Maternity Ward. She was an instrument tech in SPD/Central Supply. She worked as a Medical Assistant in Physician offices, and later transferred to the Emergency Department as an ED Tech, where she worked while going to nursing school.
- Alina was hired as a Graduate Nurse to the ER, where she worked her way up through the various roles, Fast Track, Main, Triage, Team Lead, and Charge nurse. She was also a SANE nurse for over 17 years where she worked closely with the County District Attorney’s office, often providing consultation, medical record reviews, and Expert Witness Testimony.
- In 2013, Alina was recruited to the DFW area by a multi-hospital health system, where she worked a Risk Manager. This is where her passion for Clinical Risk and Patient Safety was born.
- In 2020, Alina came to JPS as a Manager of Clinical Risk and Patient Safety. Six months later she was asked to lead the Regulatory Compliance Team, and soon after merged the two departments into one to provide a more collaborative approach as we partnered with all areas of the organization.
- Since coming to JPS, she revised the Good Catch program to ensure that all recipients were recognized, and introduced the Bronze, Silver, and Gold scoring tool. She developed the Golden Mitt Award.
- She started the process of voluntary reporting with a Patient Safety Organization to have de-identified patient safety data included in the Network of Patient Safety Databases for research and learning, to improve patient safety and prevent patient harm, while benefitting from confidentiality and patient safety work product protections of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act.
- And lastly, she collaborated with Senior Analysts from our IT department to customize and optimize the Midas Event Reporting System. New event types and parameters were created for the purpose of improved reporting for leaders throughout the organization.
