Revamp Your Approach: Incorporating Complementary Therapies

During this FREE continuing education course, learners will discover how integrating complementary therapies into pain management can enhance your practice and improve patient outcomes. This interactive course explores the value of collaboration with other healthcare professionals to provide a well-rounded, interdisciplinary approach that includes patients, families, caregivers, and communities.

We will discuss practical strategies for implementing complementary therapies, while also reflecting on personal attitudes and biases that may impact patient care. Additionally, we’ll examine the unique challenges associated with combining traditional and alternative treatments. Learners will have the opportunity to expand skill sets, bridge gaps in pain and SUD care, and uncover how complementary therapies can support a more holistic, patient-centered approach.

Target Audience

This course is intended for: Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Public Health Professionals, Physical Therapists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify professionals to collaborate/refer to provide complementary therapies for your patients.
  2. Identify ways complementary therapies support the interdisciplinary team approach which includes patients, families, caregivers and communities. 
  3. Discuss the complex nature of implementing complementary therapies into your practice repertoire. 
  4. Evaluate current attitudes and behaviors to discover areas of bias and stigma that impede optimal patient care. 
  5. Examine personal practice gaps in pain management and SUD attitudes and behaviors.
