Upon the end of this session, learners will be able to: 

  • Define decision-making capacity.
  • Discuss ways the healthcare team can respect individual autonomy in the setting of limited capacity.
  • Examine risks to those with limited capacity of receiving unfair treatment (justice).
  • Review the principles of beneficence and non-maleficence in the setting of caring persons with limited decision-making capacity.
