CPAN: 2023-24 Helping Children and Families After A School Trauma

The purpose of this educational activity is to enhance the knowledge and clinical skills of community primary care providers who play a crucial role in the mental health care of children and adolescents. In both national and Texas contexts, there is a significant shortage of Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, underscoring the critical need for pediatricians to fill this gap and provide effective mental health care for children.

This activity is designed to equip these practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of trauma and its impact on children. By participating in this program, healthcare providers will gain the expertise needed to recognize trauma exposure in children and adolescents. Moreover, they will be able to articulate the potential consequences of trauma exposure, thereby enabling them to provide informed and compassionate care to affected individuals and their families.
