Those attending this session will receive information that should allow them to:

  • Recognize and screen for common perinatal mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and psychosis, using practical tools applicable in clinical settings;
  • Apply risk–benefit principles in the management of psychiatric conditions during pregnancy, including when to continue, initiate, or modify psychotropic medications; and
  • Identify barriers to mental health care and utilize appropriate referral pathways and collaborative care models to improve access and outcomes for pregnant and postpartum patients
