Ruth Serrano Pinilla, MD

Dr. Serrano is Clinical Director of the UT San Antonio South Central AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Regional Partner site, which partners with TAKE on HIV in the delivery of HIV training and curricula. She is an Associate Professor in the Infectious Disease Division at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio and provides treatment for patients with complex infections. She is the medical director of the Family-Focused AIDS Clinical Treatment Services Clinic (FFACTS), the largest clinic in the University Health system dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care to patients living with and at-risk of acquiring HIV. She is an expert on pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV, sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis, antiretroviral therapy, management of complications of HIV and opportunistic infections. She participates in clinical research focused on enhancing the quality of life of people with HIV.
