Saly Dahab, MD, MAS, CPHQ, CPPS
Salay Dahab, MD, MAS, CPHQ, CPPS is currently a Patient Safety Specialist in the Office of Quality and Patient Safety (OQPS) in the Division of Accreditation and Certification Operations at The Joint Commission. In this role, she manages activities related to patient safety events including the review of Root Cause Analysis for sentinel events and feedback calls with organizations regarding sentinel events. Dr. Dahab served as the lead in updating the suicide definition for the Sentinel Event policy which went into effect on January 1, 2024.
Dr. Dahab is an Obstetrician with more than 20 years of clinical experience. Prior to The Joint Commission, she served as a Patient Safety Consultant with several health care organizations. She also served as a Drug Safety Physician affiliated with NIH where she investigated drug safety for medications in clinical trials.
Dr. Dahab received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Suez Canal University, School of Medicine in Egypt. She received her master’s degree in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality, and her Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) certificates from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD. She is a member of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISOP) and the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ).
