Fran Griffin, RRT, MPA, has been working in the areas of patient safety and quality improvement for nearly 20 years, directly in the acute care setting and as an advisor, coach and teacher to many health care leaders and clinicians. She has been faculty at The Institute for Healthcare Improvement since 2000 and had directed numerous projects and collaboratives.
Fran has taught and applied improvement in the area of patient safety with health care organizations in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden and Qatar. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications and authored a chapter on patient safety in The Healthcare Quality Book 3rd Edition. She is a frequently requested presenter for conferences and web-based training on patient safety, including infection prevention, and reliability in healthcare.
Fran started her health care career as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Emergency Medical Technician before advancing to hospital management and administration, overseeing quality, patient safety, case management, infection prevention and emergency preparedness.
