Presentation Summary

TeamSTEPPS (Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety) is an evidence-based framework to optimize team performance across the health care delivery system. TeamSTEPPS is an evidence-based program aimed at optimizing performance among teams of health care professionals, enabling them to respond quickly and effectively to whatever situations arise. This curriculum was developed by a panel of experts, incorporating more than 25 years of scientific research that has been conducted on teams and team performance. For those that attend all 4 sessions in-person for TeamSTEPPS, the Department of IPE/P will award a certificate of completion for the TeamSTEPPS Essentials Course. TeamSTEPPS Essentials Course is a condensed, modified version of the more complete training known as, TeamSTEPPS Fundamentals. The Essentials Course delivers the core teamwork concepts and specific tools and strategies known to improve communication and teamwork and reduce the chance of medical error.
